Charlie and Sasha have three daughters now. One evening, his eldest asks about her name, Charlie tells her the story of how she got it.
Charlie and Sasha rested together in the soft grass, watching their three adorable daughters, Annabelle the Younger, Laila and Katrina, play. Charlie smiled at the girls as they ran around crazily.
"It's like I am looking at puppy angels," he said to himself.
Sasha saw the look on his face and smiled.
"I'm so fortunate to have you as are they," she said.
Charlie rubbed heads with her. The day wore on and night fell. Before bed, Charlie sat there, looking up towards heaven, thanking Annabelle the Whippet angel for allowing him to return. Just then, he heard the voice of one of his daughters.
"Dad?" it asked.
Charlie looked to see his daughter Annabelle standing there. He smiled.
"It's getting late. Shouldn't you be with your mother and sisters getting ready for bed?" he asked.
"Dad, I have just been thinking about my name. Why did you give it to me?" she asked.
"It's the name of someone I knew before I was with your mother," he said.
Annabelle's curiosity got the better of her.
"Who?" she asked.
Charlie motioned to her with his paw.
"Come, honey. Get comfortable," he said.
Charlie laid perfectly still as Annabelle climbed up on him and perched herself on his head. He was happy to have her there.
"Look up at the stars, sweetie. There is a place beyond this one called heaven, and in that place, there is a female Whippet named Annabelle who I have had a history with. It was she who allowed me to come to be with your mother. You are named in her honor," he explained.
"Can we meet her?" Annabelle asked.
"Maybe, one day," he said.
Charlie then lowered his head to the ground to let his daughter down and she got off.
"Now, come on. It's bedtime and I don't want your mother angry at me for allowing you to miss it," he said.
The two began to walk to where Sasha and the other girls were. As Charlie walked by, in a shiny metal plate that was laying around, the image of Annabelle the angel appeared and smiled approvingly at the sight of Charlie and his family before vanishing. It wasn't long before Annabelle the Younger was fast asleep with her sisters. Charlie looked up at heaven one last time before laying down next to the sleeping Sasha.
"Thank you," he said.
With that, Charlie Barkin peacefully fell into a deep sleep.
